Marriage?
In the year 2000, The Netherlands was the first country to redefine marriage. They changed it from what it had been since the dawn of man -- a sacred union between a man and a woman -- to something else. To something I am sure pleased one god, the lower-case one, but not the highest. But God isn't the god of this world, He never has been. When we do as He instructs, He will bless us, but when we go against His counsel, we are open to the rule of the god of this world, which isn't pretty.
So while many people seem to be rejoicing that we joined the 20 other countries where marriage has been redefined, I am deeply saddened, and concerned for where our country is heading. It isn't heading towards God, but away. And when we turn away from God, we lose His protection and guidance, and then we are powerless.
Should we love everyone? Most definitely! Should we make a mockery of a sacred institution and expect everything to be fine? No. We can't and we shouldn't, because it's not okay. You can call darkness light and light dark, but it doesn't make it so. You can call a marriage between a man and a man right and good, but that doesn't make it true. The only acceptable sexual relationship in God's eyes is between a husband and wife. No law can change that.
So while many are rejoicing and changing their fb profile to the rainbow pride, I am deeply concerned for the direction this country is and has been going. The attack on family values that have been tried and tested for thousands of years has been strong and successful and this is just a marker in that attack. Nothing can replace the value of a father in a home, nothing can replace the importance of a mother in the home. And while we engage in a social experiment, children are the ones who suffer.
This in definitely NOT the popular opinion at the moment. Hundreds of years ago, it was. But it isn't in me to stand with the majority, it is in me to stand with truth -- tried and tested truth. A father. A mother. That is what works, that is how we are naturally made to fit, no matter how you want to twist that truth in your mind.
Love others, treat everyone with kindness, but that doesn't mean you have to say that everything everyone does is right when it isn't. Especially when it attacks the very important and sacred institution, given to us by God -- marriage and family.
