Slow Steady Torture Method
We've all seen it -- that mom screaming at her kid for dumping their fishy crackers on the floor. Or that parent overreacting when their kid is tired, whiny, and uncooperative. Or me just now for example, freaking out on all four of my boys and locking them in their room because my one year old snuck, and spilled, a can of soda all over the floor. It may seem unreasonable when you see a mom overreacting like that, but it's all about the slow, steady torture method. If you were to walk into a room and see a guy shrieking in pain as someone dropped a little dribble of water into his eye, you'd think, 'Man what a wimp.' Not realizing that was the millionth drop that poor guy's had, and after days of slow, steady torture, he's freaking out. Being a mom is exactly like that. Sometimes we blow over the smallest things, b/c millions of "smallest things" add up to a really big thing. So please, be kind, smile, maybe even ask if you can help, if you run across one of us slowly tortured moms. Don't shake your head and think we're weirdos for losing it. After all, any sane person would lose their minds under slow, steady torture. It's the mom's who don't seem to get phased by it that you should worry about...like...freak from another planet, possibly robot, type junk going on there.
I'm sure all this torturing is why studies have shown that the happiest people on earth aren't those who've never had children, or those who still have children living in the home, but those people whose children are grown and out of the home. Of course they're happy! They've just spent the last 18 -20 years being slowly tortured, and now they're free. THEY'RE FREEEE!!!!...Alright, so I've lost it, but that only proves that I was sane to begin with, you remember that. ;)

This is perfect. I love your writing, Laura.
